Two Poems
by Sarp Sozdinler

Interstate Baptism

Showered in truck stop sinks,
shaved with cold water
and a stolen razor

I’ve been reborn
more times than Jesus

The coiled serpent

Spotting the rot early,
nursing the seeds I’ve planted,
seeing where my reach has fallen
short of my grasp.

I’m tending a human
bonsai, not
a garden.
