by Steve Gergley
A nine-hundred-pound tiger shark slices through the oil-drenched water underneath the railroad tracks running through the center of town. A thick-billed raven with shimmering purple plumage flutters 16.66 meters above the grease-streaked rails. You slide my creosote-stained slacks to my blistered and bootless feet. You tape a charred and crusty flank steak to the plane of my bare stomach. You tie your black underwear around my watering eyes and lead me down the basalt staircase to the riverbed.
