Two Poems

HORSE SENSE

my problem remains
the horses are always
changing their minds

LOVE POEM FROM PLATO'S CAVE

I love you as I ken love;
an ideal of knowledge
as solid as shadows on walls.

I am a true believer. I decry
the mimic that is your stink,
your shifting gaze.

Turn off the lights. Return
to my bed. I will trace your shape
with my eyes closed.
