Two Poems
by Michael Charles Hansford

How to make a masterpiece

All my life
I wanted to make something beautiful
Everything gets left behind

All my life
I wanted to make something beautiful
As if it would never end

Fundamentals

Leaving everything off
I can sleep in the cold without worry
Feverishly awaiting the call

Setting fire to my belongings
I can watch from afar without anguish
Relinquishing any plans for my future

Keeping the pain on me
I can swill everything together until it sings
Permeating the air that I breathe

I admit that I distanced myself from you
